Today, we announce the interim results from a new independent study by Leeds Beckett University (link to report) that reinforces what other studies have strongly suggested - that it is possible to measure real space heating demand in occupied homes — accurately, cost effectively and at scale.
And after previous independent studies, the interim results from Leeds Beckett University further confirm that the full KES real performance technology can deliver accuracy levels with errors as low as 5%.
These results coupled with previous studies from @Energy Systems Catapult and @BuildWise, should give confidence to policy makers to begin the process of introducing SMETER technologies (i.e. sensor and AI based energy efficiency measurement tools) into the Warm Homes Plan and to quickly move to certifying technologies that can demonstrate high levels of accuracy.
The capability exists.
The evidence is strong.
The need is urgent.
So what are we waiting for?
The UK can move from guesswork to measured reality - today.
